Stress Management
Welcome back to my blog.
Having known something about mudras i thought i will touch upon the most sought
after topic ~~Stress management~~.
The term stress is defined as a demand on Physical or mental energy.
Stress is inherent part and a fact of life . Whenever our mind perceives a threat, whether real or imaginary, the brain instantly and automatically evaluates the situation. Then the subconscious begins to prepare the body for a response.
It is fight or flight response that keeps us active and alive. What is important is how we respond to it. Prolonged or excessive may over tap the resources of an individual and render one vulnerable to illness. Symptoms of stress include muscle tension, high blood pressure, psychological problems, digestive disorders, a weakened immune system, cancer, and heart disease.
When a person is stressed, breathing becomes shallow and rapid. Because oxygen is necessary for the metabolism of every cell in the body, it affects the functioning of the autonomic nervous system which regulates automatic functions like heart rate, respiration, and digestion.
Stress has to be managed by using coping mechanism.
Here are some tips to cope with stress.
1.Be realistic in your goals .Instead of brooding over past mistakes, learn the lesson and
move forward in life.
2.Take care of your weight. As far as possible maintain your ideal weight.
3 Do some form of Physical excercise regularly.
4.Have a nutritious food.Avoid snacks and drinks.
5.Have seven to eight hours of sleep every day.
6.Undergo regular medical check up and follow your Doctor`s advise
7.Avoid going after unwanted things.Use time wisely.
8.Forgive others.
9.Learn to relax.Practice relaxation every day for 15 minutes at least.
Take three short breaks of 5 to 10 minutes at a time.
Give a try.I am sure you would stand to benefit and be better fit to handle stress.
All the best.
more to come.

Padma Mudra
Welcome back to my blog.
To day i will be continuing from my previous post wherein i mentioned about Anjali Mudra.
We move on to Padma Mudra or Lotus Mudra.Padma in sanskrit refers to Lotus. It is interesting to note Lotus has been associated with several very important writings.
We find Padma Purana in Hindu Mythology. In budhist writing we find The Lotus Sutra,
In sanskrit it is known as Saddharma Pundarika sutra.
It is widely believed that just chanting the name of the Lotus sutra is powerful enoughto bring several merits.
Coming back to lotus mudra,it is performed with hands in anjali mudra position.Just open the ring,Middle and index fingures.Observe now that your hand shows a bloomed lotus.Let the awareness be with you.Visualise the healing energy flowing through.Just experience.
This mudra brings the calm and some would experience a sense of opening up.In bharat natyam also this mudra is used. Some may experience the compassion from deep with in.
This mudra is practised in sitting or standing posture with back straight and head slightly bent forward like in anjali mudra.Go ahead and get the benefit of the mudra.
More to come.
keep blogging.

My First post

Hello!

Greetings and Welcome to N.Subramani`s blog.
I would be in touch with you through my blogs. I will be touching on subjects that will benefit
you,your family and friends.
This being my first post i would like to offer a prayer for our well being and prosperity with my hands held in Anjali Mudra. You may ask what is anjali mudra? Anjali mudra is one of the finest, mudras in my opinion.
By the way u may wonder what is this term Mudra meaning a gesture (here)made with hands.
This is the mudra used when we offer a prayer, stand before our guru, elders etc.
This mudra is also used when we say namaste or Vanakkam.
When i use this mudra i feel the state of mind when i am able to see the creator, the buddha, the christ.Allah, the god in you.One of the very important upanishads known as Isavasya upanishad starts with th stanza - ``isaa vaasyam idham sarvam``-meaning issa (god)is in every one and everything around in the here and now.
May the practice of Anjali mudra help us feel the god\qualities in all things around. The residual benefit is unity of the left and right brains, body and mind, peace and harmony.
Why not give a try?
More to come. Continue blogging.
