Diabetic Foot Care

Foot care is very important for a diabetic patient.

Diabetic patients face foot complications and reducing this is a struggle for many. Symptoms can vary but the first sign is an increased temperature in the foot itself.

An elevated HbA1C is a definite predictor of complications on the way. The higher your A1C the greater the risk. Daily tests only indicate the glucose levels in your blood and strategy to correct it can be worked out. Check your feet daily for any signs of redness, trauma, skin colour change, cracking. Keep your Doctor informed.

Apply good cream or petroleum jelly made for diabetic foot care.

When calluses, corns or toe nails become a problem, always consult your doctor or a podiatrist.

Wear shoes or protective slippers.

Wear shoes that fit right. Avoid high heals or pointy tipped shoes.

Staying in shape is an important factor when you have diabetes. Eating - Tips

Annam Praana Mayam – says the Upanishad.
It means food is life.

There is no species on earth that can completely stay away from eating.

Some of the easy to follow tips on eating are:

1. Eat only when you are hungry

2. Fast or Feast in moderation.

3. Keep away all other pre occupations like watching TV,Attending Cell
phones,reading book\paper.

4.Do not east, just because food or snacks is available around you.

5. Eat native food. When you are in Japan, have a taste of sushi and Osake which
are unique to Japan. Similarly if in South India eat Curd rice with Vathal
Kuzambu.

6. Eat according your present health condition. What you eat should match with your
requirements. For example a person with high sugar level should stay away from
fat,oils and food that have high Glycemic Index.

7. Do not over eat or under eat.

8. Instead of having a few heavy meals, break intake into smaller portion and
increase the number of times intake.

9. Eat foods that are rich in fiber,minerals,protein and water content.

10. Eat seasonal fruits.

Avoid as far as possible the following:

1. Eating full stomach at night.
