No individual young or old, rich or otherwise can escape owning and keeping  some personal record or the other.

Personal records are very important to an individual. These are required throughout life at some point of time or other.

What is personal would vary from individual to individual. But broadly they can be brought under one or more of the following classifications.

Common for all:

• Birth Certificate
• Marriage Certificate
• Marriage Invitation
• Driving License
• Pass Port
• Voter`s Identity card

Study related:

• Mark sheets –School and college.
• Scholarship sanction letters.
• Merits and awards – won.
• Degree Certificate (s).

Property related:

• Title Deeds \ Sale deed
• Parent Document(s) including authentic translation
• Patta,Kist receipt.
• Encumberance Certificate.
• Partition\Gift Deeds.
• Plans,Approvals – from Corporation or other Municipal authority.
• Death Certificate.
• Will.
• Court Orders – like Probate \ Letter of Administration etc.
• Partition \ Settlement Deeds.
• Legal opinion.
•  

Tips:

•  If you have them and are available, it is Ok. Relax.
•  Otherwise spend some time to locate and list them.
•   Keep an extra copy in electronic form – preferably in a separate folder in your email account.
•   Ensure that you personally attend to this.
•   Avoid excuses like i am busy.I have no time for such small jobs.
